We took photos as we hiked to the peak of the mountain and right when we got there maybe 20 feet in front of us was a black bear. Yes, a teenage black bear stood in front of us sniffing the ground and when he hear us he looked up and made eye contact with the three of us.
This was like any other date night they had had together. They went out and ended up at Fairmount down by the water. It wasn’t until they were underneath the pergola that Michelle realized what was about to happen. Rob proposed right there as the sunset over the water.
With all of the traditional parts of a wedding day striped away, this day was solely focused on the love they had for one another. They met each other at the alter and said their ‘I dos’ surrounded only by their closest family members.

Deciding on whether or not to do a first look on your wedding day is a big decision believe it or not. Some couples love the idea of a first look and others are a bit more on the fence due to its unconventional nature. But before you make your decision, let’s talk about what exactly a first look is and why I think more couple’s should include them in their day!

There is always this moment. When the brides hair is done and her dress is on. It’s that moment when the veil gets put on and the bride takes a deep breath, because she is ready. Kari had that moment. She was calm and patient and ready to walk down the aisle to her husband.
These two had one of the most beautiful first looks I have seen, possibly ever! They stood back to back as they read their personal vows to each other. Gabrielle, started. She read the first sentence out loud and then paused. She pursed her lips and looked up to the sky as tears fell from her eyes.
Now their life looks a lot different than it used to in Tennessee. But they are enjoying every single moment of it. They explored these cliffs, like it was their home. Without a fear in the world. They played and laughed and ran and jumped like kids on a playground.

Kenny and Kari have got to have one of the most unique and sweet proposal stories I’ve heard yet! It was the day before Easter and Kenny had ever detail planned out to a T! He had spent the past week in his wood shop building not one but two boxes to bury in the ground. Yup, you read that right! The first box was bigger, and inside he placed pictures and memories from their past year of dating, as well as the smaller second box, which held the real treasure!

I never force my clients into a pose or make the kids do anything they don’t want to. My approach is more organic. I like to watch a family be a family. My favorite photos are the ones where kids are being kids and parents are being their very best friends, exploring and laughing alongside them. And that is exactly what this session was like! We danced, twirled, and giggled our way through this family session in the best way!
