This giveaway turned surprise proposal was the perfect adventure that An and Tyler will always remember! When Tyler asked if he could propose to An during their adventure session, or course my answer was YES! We hiked down to a gorgeous 94 foot waterfall, where Tyler got down on one knee and proposed to An. She was so surprised, this proposal story is one of my favorites and made for the most memorable adventure session at Ricketts Glen State Park!
When planning this adventure session with An it was clear that she had no idea what it would turn out to be! A few days after I announced the winner, her boyfriend Tyler reached out asking if he could propose during the shoot. I of course said yes, and we got to planning! An had chosen Ricketts Glen as the location of the session, which had the perfect spot for a waterfall proposal.
We started the session at the beginning of the trailhead, while Tyler and I did our best to keep in all our nerves and excitement as to not ruin the surprise. We did most of the session walking down the trail, with the ring burning a hole in Tyler’s pocket! When we got down to the base of the 94-foot waterfall, Tyler knew it was time. As the snow was falling, Tyler got down on one knee, asking An to marry him. An was totally surprised and overjoyed, and we popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate before heading back up the trail.
An and Tyler’s love story is much more than a highlight reel. As these two shared more about their relationship with me, it was very clear how much they both appreciate one another. They truly love each other just as they are, and embrace their strengths and their weaknesses together. They see their differences as opportunities to grow together. They love quality time are always looking for ways where they can connect with each other, whether it’s through a concert or a weekend getaway.
An and Tyler, congrats on your engagement! This is such an exciting time for you both. It was such a pleasure to be a part of this special moment in your relationship. I love watching the way you two balance each other out and appreciate the other. You two have so much to look forward to, and I cannot wait to see you two live out your dreams together!
Ricketts Glen is one of the most beautiful state parks in Pennsylvania. With 24 flowing waterfalls, it’s a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts in Pennsylvania. Enjoy this old-growth forest, as you trek up stone stairs and encounter waterfall after waterfall!
In addition to hiking and waterfalls, the park also offers camping, cabins, swimming, fishing, and canoeing. This park has something to offer for every season and is definitely worth exploring! If you are planning a session or elopement at Ricketts Glen, be sure to find a photographer who is familair with the landscape and knows the best times to go to avoid crowds. Always follow leave no trace principles and make sure to look into necessary permits for this location.
