Kelsey and Aaron’s romantic lakefront wedding at the Lake House Inn was a day steeped in charm and togetherness. From the waterside vows to the custom bridal gown to the blush and white wedding florals, this celebration was a timeless affair.
These two met during their sophomore year at Penn State through Lion Ambassadors, a club that brought them together again and again until it felt like fate was no longer being subtle.
A series of campus activities turned into something more profound. Their early days included long-distance chapters, cross-state moves, and shared dreams that only strengthened their connection. Their love is grounded in deep friendship, playful chemistry, and a profound sense of home in each other.
Kelsey and Aaron knew from the beginning that their wedding wouldn’t follow one particular theme. They both wanted it to be something classic, timeless, joyful, and full of love.
The couple envisioned a day that felt as vibrant and high-energy as their families and friendships. What ultimately unfolded was a day full of warmth, intention, and fun, set against the stunning lakefront views at The Lake House Inn.
Though Kelsey initially explored restored barn venues, it was the outdoor ceremony space at The Lake House Inn that sealed the deal. The water shimmered behind them during their vows, and the gentle breeze carried laughter and music well into the evening.
The Lake House Inn offered the perfect balance of natural beauty and elegant architecture. It was the ideal backdrop for a celebration rooted in genuine connection.
From the very beginning, Kelsey and Aaron wove meaningful personal touches into their day. One standout moment was their pre-wedding visit to Jo Malone to craft signature scents.
Each had a custom fragrance made with initials and the wedding date engraved. When layered together, the scents were tested to blend harmoniously (just like them). They plan to wear those scents only on special occasions, making them a living memory of their wedding day.
Their guest book also had a twist: rather than a traditional book, guests snapped Polaroids, taped them in, and wrote messages beside their photos. Solo shots, group selfies, candid moments, it all reflected the spirit of a couple who wanted their guests to have as much fun as they did.
Kelsey’s dress from Lovely Bride in Soho was truly one of a kind. The shimmering, silk-like fabric caught the light in magical ways as it reflected off the lake during the ceremony.
Though not originally designed with a neck wrap, the boutique helped reimagine the piece. The result was a showstopping open-back gown with a statement neckline that trailed elegantly behind her. Aaron and his groomsmen wore classic black suits, adding a modern edge to the soft romance of the day. The bridesmaids completed the picture with sage green gowns that complemented the neutral, nature-inspired palette.
Bloom Flower Co. brought the romantic vision to life with arrangements full of creams, greens, blush, and caramel tones. Everything felt lush but never too perfect. They favored organic shapes and textures, which gave each bouquet and table a fresh-from-the-garden feel.
Two floral pillars framed the couple at the ceremony, and they later transitioned to the reception space behind the head table. Each element of the design felt intentional and reused with purpose.
While the whole day was unforgettable, Kelsey and Aaron’s first look stood out in the most heartfelt way. Seeing each other before the ceremony helped them release their nerves and reconnect before sharing their vows with loved ones.
Later, their high-energy reception entrance and the moment they took in a room filled with everyone they love, people who otherwise might never cross paths, was a powerful, joyful reminder of how love brings worlds together.
From their blended playlist to their afterparty vibes, every detail was uniquely theirs. Their cake was a honey lavender masterpiece with vanilla buttercream. Their late-night treats were warm apple cider donuts and passed mini gelato cones. The entire day was a perfect blend of cozy, elegant, and joyfully personal.
Kelsey shared one of the best pieces of advice she received:
“Act as the guest of honor at your wedding, not the host.”
That mindset shift allowed them to release stress, embrace each moment, and truly enjoy their celebration. And that joy? It shows in every single photo.
Kelsey and Aaron found me early in their planning process and I was thrilled to go on this journey with them. In Kelsey’s words:
“Cara has a very calming presence & it showed particularly on our wedding day. I think a major reason I felt as relaxed as I did on the big day was because of Cara’s energy… There are not enough good things to say!”
As a wedding photographer, I want to make every moment feel grounded and special. Whether it’s building timelines, prepping the couple ahead of the day, or helping capture the natural light just right, I want my presence to be a steadying hand throughout the process.
If you’re ready to talk about your special day, I can’t wait to chat with you!
