Chelsea and Tom’s Adirondacks elopement was such a blast! These two are avid hikers, so we knew that a hike through Green Lake State Park would be the perfect morning activity before they exchange their vows over the crystal clear waters of the glacial lakes.
I met Chelsea and Tom before sunrise at the Kester Homestead. It’s a gorgeous cottage-style Airbnb in Memphis, New York that doubles as an intimate wedding venue and was the perfect start to their elopement. Although we used it as a getting-ready space, it’s known for beautiful farm-style suppers and cozy accommodations, and I absolutely can’t wait to get back here for a future wedding!
Chelsea and Tom got ready together and took turns writing their vows in vintage story books. We then packed up our bags, including one for Chelsea’s heels and bouquet, and headed off into the woods. Our trail through Green Lake State Park didn’t have much incline, so we were able to take our time enjoying the sights and sounds of the Adirondacks as we headed to the lake. When we arrived we found the perfect spot on the pebble beach, and after a quick shoe change, they were ready! Chelsea and Tom exchanged their promises to each other, and it was truly beautiful to watch their exchange. These two have been through a lot together, and it was clear in their vows how central they are to the other’s life.
Green Lake State Park is a gorgeous old-growth forest just east of the Finger Lakes region of New York. The lake itself is a stunning turquoise color thanks to its meromictic nature; the top and bottom layers of the water do not mix. During the summer Green Lake is a popular swimming destination, but when we visited in the fall the park was quiet and made for a beautiful elopement spot.
Upstate NY is such a stunning place to elope on the East Coast, especially in the fall when the leaves change color. If you are looking for an even more adventurous experience you can head to The Adirondack Mountains, near the finger lakes. There are so many amazing locations to check out including: The Pinnacle trail, Indian Head trail, Whiteface Mountain, Marcy Field, Cascade Lakes just to name a few!
This elopement was so romantic and special and I can’t wait to head back for future couples! Chelsea and Tom — thank you so much for having me as part of your special day!
