Chesapeake Bay, Maryland | Intimate Backyard Wedding

Support and Love were the pillars of Katie and Kyle’s intimate backyard wedding in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. Katie and Kyle made the switch from a big wedding and decided that an intimate gathering of family and friends was more their style. The theme of the day was boho neutrals including dried florals, wicker place settings, and beautiful white floral centerpieces, and blue accents throughout. While the day was put together beautifully, the focus of the day was never lost behind the details. Katie and Kyle’s wedding day was filled with tears, hugs, joyful sentiments, and even some rain! Nothing could stop Katie and Kyle from having the best day of their lives together surrounded by the people they care for the most!

Katie & Kyle are high school sweethearts and it’s clear that their love has grown so deep over the years. Everyone I spoke with at the wedding talked about how they have grown up and become such wonderful adults together. It was clear that this day meant so much to not only Katie & Kyle, but also to their family and friends; everyone was in tears during their sweet ceremony, myself included!

This was by far one of my favorite weddings of 2021. Even though it poured almost all day, everyone had the absolute best time. A little rain wasn’t going to ruin the day they waited so long for! Although Katie and Kyle had originally intended to have a larger wedding, I think their choice to downsize made the day even more special! The intimate nature of the day left time for so many sweet moments between this couple and their family and friends.

Intimate Backyard Weddings

In 2020 and 2021 we have seen a lot of couples downsize their weddings. While a lot of couples are choosing to elope, some couples still prefer to stick to a traditional wedding timeline, hosting what we call an “intimate wedding”. While elopements generally range from just the couple and their officiant to a few close family and friends, intimate weddings usually fall in the 25 – 75 guest range. This allows for a couple to experience a lot of the classic wedding moments such as walking down the aisle and having a first dance, while still keeping the celebration small and making sure that only the most important people in their life are present. For many couples, an intimate wedding is the best of both worlds!
