Longwood Gardens Engagement Session

Kenny and Kari’s Longwood Gardens engagement session was absolutely beautiful! They also have got to have one of the most unique and sweet proposal stories I’ve heard yet! It was the day before Easter and Kenny had ever detail planned out to a T!

He had spent the past week in his wood shop building not one but two boxes to bury in the ground. Yup, you read that right! The first box was bigger, and inside he placed pictures and memories from their past year of dating, as well as the smaller second box, which held the real treasure! He found the perfect spot in their yard to dig up and hide these boxes in for Kari to find later, during a metal detecting activity he had planned for them. Their land was old and historic and they had spoken before about metal detecting for old family treasures on the property.

He had the boxes hidden just perfectly and was ready to ask her for her hand, but Kari had other plans. She wanted to bake easter treats for their family dinner that night! So Kenny worked as quickly as possible to get the baking finished, and then Kari wanted to take a mid day nap! After allowing her to rest for a minute he finally insisted that they go metal detecting before dinner.

He tried to plan a trail that they would follow that would lead them right to the spot! But every where Kari went the metal detector would ring. He just kept saying, “Oh its probably junk!”, until he finally led her to the spot and when the metal detector rung, it read GOLD!

This was it! They started digging and when the got to the box, Kari admitted, “I thought we found a box of old love letters that my grandparents had written!” It wasn’t until she found the second box that she realized what was happening. Kenny pulled out the ring and asked her to marry him. And of course, she said yes! They ended the night with a family dinner to celebrate.

I love hearing the stories of how couples fall in love, how they get engaged, and I absolutely love following their stories of marriage as they unfold. When Kenny and Kari told me this story, it stopped me in my tracks! The details and planning along with the sentimental nature of this proposal just makes my heart melt for these two!

We planned a last minute engagement session for these two, because they are getting married in just a month! And I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate their love on their wedding day!

Scroll through to take a look at this beautiful Longwood Garden Engagement session. We started at Longwood and ended their session as the sunset over a local nature preserve, and it was absolutely perfection!
