With Micro weddings trending right now, you may be considering a “new” way to tie the knot. Maybe you were originally planning a big wedding day, or maybe your original plans were to ditch the guest list entirely. Either way I want to share with you 5 reasons why I think elopements are the right choice for you!

1. You get to plan the best day ever with your partner! 

Eloping gives you the opportunity to plan your day exactly as you want it! If there was an eighth day of the week how would you and your partner spend it? If you could drop everything and go, where would you be?!

When picking a location to elope consider: what do you want to see, smell, hear? Do you want to hike, or would you rather explore a new city or town? What do YOU love to do together?

After you share your vows with one another what amazing activities do you want to plan for your day?! You can be creative and do whatever you want. Some couples love a long day of hiking, while others might enjoy a helicopter tour from above, or maybe kayaking and swimming, a picnic somewhere epic, or a small airbnb celebration with a few family members. No matter what you plan, you know it’s going to ROCK because it’s what you love!

2. Share an intimate day focused on your wedding, minus all the drama that comes with a traditional wedding day.

The best part about ditching the guest list, NO DRAMA! You literally have no one else to worry about. The day is all about you and your love together, which is how it should be!

Traditional weddings can sometimes end up being all about the details, or all about pleasing family members or guests invited. When your including a lot of people to join your day you often get a lot of opinions of what that should look like as well. While they mean well, sometimes opinions or family dynamics can bring drama, which doesn’t exactly scream romance.

Because your elopement day includes just you (and maybe a few guests you couldn’t do it without), you also get to spend SOO much more time together on your wedding day!

3. Eloping is THE BEST adventure! 

Whether you spend the day on a mountain top, in a valley, on the water, or in a city your day is going to be an adventure you’ll never forget! Doing something new together on your wedding day is something you will always cherish and look back on with the biggest smiles!

Traditional wedding days tend to be fast paced and over before you know it. Everyone always says how their wedding day is such a blur because it happened so fast and it’s true! Traditional wedding days have so many events planned back to back that sometimes it can get overwhelming. But when you elope, you get the time to slow down and enjoy each moment. There is no need to rush through the day because the day is all about what you want! Not about fitting everything into a scheduled timeline. How awesome is that?!

4. Weddings are Expensive! 

This is a good one! Weddings are expensive averaging around $30,000. Just think what you could do with that money!! Eloping definitely isn’t free, you will still have to pay for your travel, excursions, any vendors you hire, and food. But the average cost of an elopement are SO much lower and think of how you could spend that extra money as a newly married couple?!

5. Value Your Authentic Experience

If the idea of a traditional wedding day doesn’t feel like you. That is okay! Your wedding day should be authentic to who you are as a person and who you are as a couple. The reason for your wedding is your love and your marriage and sometimes to traditions of a big wedding day can take away from the real reason you are there in the first place.

If planning a big wedding makes you anxious and not excited, then eloping might be the right decision for you. Of course, if you are someone who has always wanted the big wedding then absolutely go for it!

Everyone is different and we all have different ways of celebrating, so you should go with the decision that feels most comfortable to you!
